Hi, I'm Miss Chudow, and I am originally from Centereach, Long Island. I am incredibly happy to be teaching the string musicians of Holland Patent!
In third grade, I began my musical career by learning to play the violin. I went on to learn to play the viola, cello, bass, and piano soon after! I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and Special Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. At Crane, I was a member of many different performing ensembles including the Crane Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Northern New York, Contemporary Music Ensemble, Clarkson Symphony Orchestra, and the Moto String Quartet. I also had the opportunity to perform in the Thailand Chamber Music Festival, playing four concerts throughout the land of smiles. I held the position of concertmistress of the Crane Alumni Festival Orchestra during their 2014 and 2015 festivals. I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music. In April 2016, I had the privilege to conduct the Oneida County Music Educators Association Elementary All County Orchestra. One of my passions is performing, and I regularly play violin in the pit orchestra of musicals in our area, Colgate University Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Northern New York's summer series.
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki believed that musical ability can be developed in all children. As a music educator, my goal is to foster each student's capabilities to become fine musicians through both mind and spirit. I hope that all of my students become lifelong supporters and appreciators of music.
"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline, and endurance. They get a beautiful heart."
