Holland Patent Central School District Unveils New Name for Golden Knight Mascot

Holland Patent Central School District Unveils New Name for Golden Knight Mascot

The votes are in, and Holland Patent’s Golden Knight officially has a name. After a school-wide naming contest and a close final vote, the district is proud to announce Victor as the winning mascot name.

The naming contest brought together students, staff, teachers, and community members across the district, generating more than 100 unique name submissions. High school and middle school students were given the opportunity to review the top names of finalists and then casted their vote to determine the winner.

The final tally revealed an exciting race, with Victor edging out the competition.

The name Victor was submitted by Michael Reilley, science teacher at both the high school and middle school. When asked about his inspiration, Reilly shared, “That’s what winners are called.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cheryl Venettozzi shared, “This contest was more than just about naming a mascot –  it was about building community, celebrating creativity, and giving our students a voice. Victor now stands as a symbol of Holland Patent’s pride.”

Victor will continue to represent the district at events, assemblies and athletic games now with a name that reflects the light and leadership it brings to the school.
