Holland Patent School District celebrated grand opening of new all-purpose turf field

Holland Patent celebrated the grand opening of a new all-purpose turf field for the Golden Knights, marking a milestone in the district’s commitment to student wellness and athletic excellence.

To mark the occasion, the district held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and pep assembly on Sept. 30, bringing together students, teachers and staff for an afternoon of school spirit and pride. 

“This turf field is a game-changer for our athletes,” said Athletic Director Mike Absolom. “It gives our teams a professional-grade surface to train and compete on.” 

Following the ceremony and pep assembly, the community gathered to watch and cheer on the Golden Knights during their first home games on the new field. Varsity field hockey faced VVS, followed by the boys varsity soccer team against Oneida. 

“This new all-purpose turf field reflects our commitment to being a leading educational organization where students and staff are excited to be engaged and growing to their full academic potential,” said Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Venettozzi. “It’s taken time, teamwork, and a shared vision, and now we’re proud to see it come to life. We’re grateful to everyone who made this project possible.” 

The new all-purpose turf field reflects the district’s commitment to growth, collaboration, and student success.
