Holland Patent Students Perform at Winter Chorus Concert

Holland Patent Central School District decked the halls with harmony at the annual Winter Chorus Concert on Dec. 11. The program featured performances by Fourth through Sixth Grade Chorus, Seventh through Eighth Grade Chorus, High School Select Chorus, and High School Mixed Chorus under the direction of Bethany Swift.  

The Fourth through Sixth Grade Chorus opened the program with “Wishing Star” by Beth Bolton, arranged by Laura Farnell. The chorus also performed “Cold Snap” by Mark Hayes, “Maoz Tzur” arranged by Matt Podd, and “We are Santa’s Elves” by Johnny Marks, arranged by Greg Gilpin. 

The Seventh through Eighth Grade Chorus followed with “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano, arranged by Paul Langford. They also performed “Northern Lights” by Andy Beck, “Hine Ma Tov,” arranged by Allan Naplan, and “Let It Go” arranged by Mac Huff. 

The evening continued as the High School Mixed Chorus took the stage with “This Is Winter” by Amy Bernon. The mixed chorus also performed “Sing a Song of Hanukkah” by Marcus and Schram, “Mary Did You Know?” arranged by Roger Emerson, “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen.  

The spotlight then shifted to the High School Select Chorus with “A Very Merry Christmas” by PINKZEBRA. They also performed “Winter Is Calling” by Thomas Morley, arranged by Martin, “Under Winter Moon” by Andy Beck, and “Dance!” by Robert T. Gibson. 

For the grand finale, all the choruses returned to the stage to perform “Last Christmas” arranged by Greg Gilpin. The performance brought together students of every age in celebration of music and community, leaving the audience with joy that lasted long after the final note.
