Congratulations to Our Winter Sports and Our Team and Student Accomplishments!
JV/V sports begin on Monday, March 11th! We look forward to another great season for our Golden Knights!
At our Thursday, February 29th Board of Education meeting, our students and coaches were recognized for athletic accomplishments this winter season.
Many of our winter teams had great runs in the Section 3 tournaments this year. We recognized:
1. Alpine Ski - Coached by Dean Brown, the girls Alpine Ski team were Section 3 champions this year. Holland Patent student-athletes were;
- Madeline Snider
- Pazia Grocholski
- Payton Muha
We also had three Holland Patent student-athletes qualify for States this past weekend in Lake Placid;
-Brian Tolbert
-Hunter Walchusky
-Payton Muha
2. Nordic Ski - Coached by Josh Olney and John Brown, three Holland Patent student-athletes qualified for States this past weekend in Lake Placid;
- Silas Crowe
- Carter Poland
- Aidyn Mosher
3. Basketball - Coached by Scott Jones, I would like to recognize Jeffrey Dewar for scoring his 1000th career basketball point in the February 8th game against Proctor. He became the third Holland Patent basketball player to achieve this milestone. Jeff finished with 1,117 career points here at Holland Patent. The other two alumnus are Rob Reynolds (1,065) and Darryl Crist (1,174)
4. Wrestling - Coached by John Richard. We had two student-athletes qualify for the New York State Wrestling Tournament in Albany this past weekend.
-Trent True finished seventh in the State. He also had his 100th victory this season and was a Section3 Champion at 190 pounds.
-Andrew Juliano was the New York State Champion at 101 pounds. He became the third Holland Patent athlete to achieve this accomplishment. The other two wrestlers are Hunter Richards in 2015 at 138 pounds, in 2016 at 145 pounds and 2017 at 152 pounds and Alex Harringshaw in 2014 at 145 pounds and 2015 at 160 pounds and 2016 at 170 pounds.
I would also like to Recognize and congratulate Coach John Richard for being inducted into the Section 3 Wrestling Hall of Fame this year. He will officially be enshrined into the Section 3 Hall of Fame on October 19. Well-deserved, coach!
