Holland Patent High School Students Navigate Real-World Finances
On April 16, Holland Patent High School students engaged in a practical learning experience: Financial Reality Day. This interactive simulation focused on developing essential real-world money management skills, aligning with the District's goal of preparing students for success.
The event immersed students in various career roles, challenging them to manage budgets that included housing, transportation and daily expenses. By making financial decisions based on assigned salaries and realistic life situations, students gained a hands-on understanding of the importance of budgeting, saving and future financial planning.
This valuable program offered students a glimpse into adult financial responsibilities within an engaging and educational environment. The District extends its gratitude to First Source Federal Credit Union and the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES School to Career programs for their support in facilitating this impactful event.
