Summer Reading Suggestions

  • * Check out the "Supply List" page to help you plan for the fall!

    * Check out my "Class News" page to get to know my routines and expectations in third grade. Third grade is a big transition year for students... there are many changes and fun and exciting things that happen!

    * Practice some third grade skills over the summer by visiting the websites on my "Useful Links" tabs... there are fun games that can be used to practice and strengthen skills linked to any subject!

    * Help your kids with comprehension skills by asking them questions about the books they are reading... questions that have to do with characters, setting, plot, predictions. Here are some generic questions that can help you:
    - Who is the character in the book?
    - Why did he/she do that?
    - Why did __ happen?
    - What do you think will happen next?
    - What happened before (or after) this event?
    - Why do you think the author added that to the story?
    - What do you think the author meant by that?

    * Read some good books! Go to the library or ask your teacher to borrow some books for the summer. Read a little bit each day.

Take your book out onto your deck or porch, or go sit on your favorite swing and read while you enjoy the outdoors! Here are some suggestions of books to read:
